Delay in Air Cargo Movement Across Major Hubs

Table of content

Dear Customer,
At Freight Systems, we are committed to keeping our clients informed about any developments that may affect our services. We have been experiencing delays in air cargo movements across major hubs over the past few days. Below are the key factors contributing to these disruptions:

  • Post-Chinese New Year Recovery: Freighter capacity between Asia and the US has not yet fully recovered, leading to continued capacity constraints.
  • US Tariffs on China: The introduction of new tariffs is further impacting cargo flows.
  • Severe Weather Conditions: Harsh winter conditions in North America, particularly in the US and Canada, have disrupted flight operations.
  • Labor Strikes:
o Brussels & Liège airports were impacted by strikes earlier.
o Germany (MUC): Ongoing strikes at Munich Airport are causing widespread disruptions across Europe. (Germany: Strike at Munich airport set to cancel most flights – DW – 02/25/2025)
  • Flight Cancellations & Limited Capacity: Several airlines have cancelled flights or are operating with restricted capacity due to the above challenges.
  • Passenger & Baggage Prioritization: As always, passenger and baggage movements are being prioritized over GCR cargo, further straining cargo space.
  • Ramadan Festival Approaching in the Middle East.

We are actively monitoring shipment routes, rerouting freight where possible, and prioritizing the handling of critical shipments to mitigate delays. Customers are encouraged to adjust shipment timelines, prioritize urgent shipments by coordinating with our team, and rely on regular updates to plan inventory and operations effectively during this period. Freight Systems remains committed to supporting your supply chain needs, ensuring flexibility and reliability even in challenging conditions. If you need any further assistance, please reach out to our customer service or sales team at info@freightsystems.com.

Thank you for your understanding and continued trust in our services.

Regards,
Team Freight Systems
