Update 09/08/2024

Dear Customer,

This is a follow-up advisory post the appointment of the caretaker government on August 9, 2024, we are pleased to report a significant improvement in the law-and-order situation. As a result, business operations are gradually returning to normal across the country. We would like to provide you with an update on the status of our services:

Air Export and Import

  • Status: Operations and deliveries are ongoing normally.
  • Delays: Please note there are delays in uplift due to a backlog caused by last month’s disruptions.
  • Freight Rates: Rates have increased considerably due to high demand for limited space and are expected to continue rising. This volatility has led to very limited validity of rates offered by carriers.

Ocean Export

  • CFS and Port Operations: Both Container Freight Station (CFS) and Chattogram port operations have normalized.
  • Challenges: There is a shortage of equipment, and berthing delays of up to 10 days due to many import-laden containers awaiting delivery.
  • Freight Rates: Ocean freight rates are also expected to increase.

Ocean Import

  • Port Operations: Chattogram port operations have returned to normal.
  • Challenges: The port remains congested with laden imports, leading to delays in general berthing and operations.

While we are committed to maintaining the highest level of service integrity, please anticipate delays that are beyond our control until the backlog is fully cleared. We highly recommend in placing bookings well in advance to manage your shipments effectively.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support during this time. Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service or sales team at info@freightsystems.com.

Update 06/08/2024

Dear Customer,

At Freight Systems, we are committed to keeping our clients informed about any developments that may affect our services. We would like to draw your attention to the recent violent clashes in Bangladesh and the resignation of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister has stepped down and has possibly left the country. The army chief has confirmed the resignation, and steps are being taken to set up an interim government. While the curfew will remain in effect until the situation stabilizes and people return home, it appears that the violence has ceased with isolated incidents as of yesterday evening, communication and internet services is getting restored in phases. We hope there will be no more violence, loss of lives, or anarchy moving forward.

Let us pray for the country to return to peace and safety of the citizens. India is indeed a strong trading partner with Bangladesh hence it is important for the country to return to peace and resume bilateral trades. This incident happens at a time when Bangladesh Garment exporters are busy to meet the peak demand of the Western World in upcoming months.

We will monitor the situation closely and keep you informed of any further developments. If you need any further assistance, please reach out to our customer service or sales team at info@freightsystems.com.

Regards,

Dear Customer,

At Freight Systems, we are committed to keeping our clients informed about any developments that may affect our services. We would like to draw your attention to the recent violent clashes in Bangladesh, which are significantly impacting trade.

After the unrest over the last few weeks, the situation has further escalated over the weekend, with violent clashes between anti and pro-government forces. The anti-government protestors are demanding the government step down. Over 90 people have been killed and many injured in clashes across the country, leading to:

  • An indefinite curfew from 6:00 PM Sunday, BD Time
  • A three-day government-mandated holiday starting Monday
  • Government orders for a mobile internet shutdown, affecting connectivity
  • Facebook and WhatsApp being inaccessible in the country
  • Slow internet services disrupting our mails, EFS and other platforms.

We anticipate severe delays in our communications and disruptions in our services. However, we will do our best to maintain operations as long as the internet is not completely shut down. We are in continuous contact with our team and will keep your respective team members updated on any shipments in transit.

We will monitor the situation closely and keep you informed of any further developments. If you need any further assistance, please reach out to our customer service or sales team at info@freightsystems.com.
