Dear Valuable Customer,

At Freight Systems, we believe in keeping you informed of any developments that may impact your shipments. We want to inform you of the ongoing congestion situation at Nhava Sheva, which continues to impact the smooth movement of EXIM cargo and container transportation across terminals and CFS facilities. As advised by industry bodies and terminal stakeholders, the current challenges include shortages of transport drivers, slow vehicular turnaround times, terminal bottlenecks, and delays in the evacuation of import containers. Export container movements are also experiencing extended lead times, resulting in potential vessel rollovers and schedule disruptions.

Some of the key operational impacts include:

  • Export containers may require a minimum lead time of 72 hours after movement orders are confirmed.
  • Delays in container gate-in may affect planned vessel connections and delivery commitments.
  • Import container evacuation from terminals to CFS facilities is currently experiencing turnaround times exceeding seven days in certain cases.
  • Shipment processing and cargo deliveries may be impacted due to the prevailing congestion.

In view of the additional operational costs and delays arising from the current situation, a Port Congestion Surcharge will be applicable as follows:

  • Port Congestion Charge: INR 250 per W/M
  • Effective Date: Applicable for vessels arriving on or after 01 June 2026
  • Applicable Port: Nhava Sheva (JNPT)

We strongly recommend planning shipments at least one week in advance wherever possible to minimize disruptions and ensure continuity of your supply chain. Our team continues to monitor the situation closely and is working proactively with all stakeholders to minimize the impact on your shipments. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this period. Should you require any clarification or shipment-specific assistance, please feel free to contact your Freight Systems representative.

Regards,
Team Freight Systems
