Freight Systems Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Grade-A EDGE Certified Warehouse in Gurugram

Gurugram, India – Freight Systems achieved a remarkable milestone today with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art Grade-A EDGE-certified Green Warehouse and Fulfilment center in Gurugram, Haryana.

With 20,000 pallet locations and storage area of approx 5,50,000 sq. Ft. The center is strategically located in close proximity to National Highway-48, IMT Manesar, MET Jhajjar, ICD Garhi Harsaru and Patli, Western Peripheral Highwat and Rewari Link Road. The Warehouse and Fulfilment Center represents a pioneering initiative in sustainable warehousing. With an investment of approximately INR 80 Crores, FSL serves a wide range of industries, including automotive, FMCG, white goods, apparel, retail, pre-packed Foods, consumables, hi-tech products, home appliances, and healthcare. The center is also poised to create opportunities for over 250 personnel, contributing to the local economy and fostering skill development.

The event, graced by esteemed guests Mr. Pramod Kaushik (Head Supply Chain at Apollo Tyres), Mr. Shounak Ray (Business Development Lead at IFC), Ms. Shruti Shukla (Head e-commerce at Monte Carlo Fashions), Mr. Abhishek Chaturvedi (GM Marketing at Godrej Material Handling), and FSL’s leadership team Mr. David Phillips (CEO at Freight Systems), Mr. Manu Raj Bhalla (Director & Global Head at FSL), and Mr. Suresh Kannappan (CCO at Freight Systems), marked not only the opening of a warehouse but a significant leap forward in sustainable logistics solutions.

Prioritizing Sustainability for the Greater Good

The center focuses on implementing a range of sustainable features to minimize environmental impact and maximize operational efficiency:

1. Solar Power: Installation of solar panels to harness clean energy, reducing the carbon footprint and operating costs.

2. Water Recycling: Implementation of water recycling systems to minimize water wastage and ensure responsible water use.

3. Rainwater Harvesting: Collection and utilization of rainwater to reduce dependency on external water sources and mitigate the risk of water scarcity.

4. Battery-Operated Material Handling Equipment: Adoption of electric and battery-operated equipment to reduce emissions and improve indoor air quality. It also has provisions for charging of Electric Vehicles.

5. Recycled Pallets: Utilization of recycled and sustainable pallets for storage and transportation, reducing waste and supporting eco-friendly supply chain practices.

The event also witnessed industry experts praising the facility’s innovative design and sustainability features. Mr. Abhishek Chaturvedi, GM -Marketing at Godrej Material Handling and Storage Solutions, commended it as one of the best in India, poised to set a benchmark for efficiency and sustainability in the warehousing sector.

Mr. Pramod Kaushik, Head – Supply Chain at Apollo Tyres, emphasized the critical role of logistics, stating, “Logistics and especially warehousing is one of the areas with the most investment in today’s time. It is the era of logistics, and only those who ace at their game will survive to see the light of the day.”

Mr. Shounak Ray, Business Development Lead – South Asia, Green Building Program at IFC, drew a powerful analogy, stating, “If India’s economy is the body, the logistics industry is the muscles – You need them for everything you do. And this is how the industry contributes to the Indian economy.”
